Dr. Reyes earned his medical degree from the University of Havana in 1970 and completed his surgical residency at Calixto Garcia Hospital, where he also served as a Professor Instructor of Surgery. His early career was marked by rapid advancement, becoming Chief of Surgery at Manuel Fajardo Hospital. In the 1980s, he expanded his impact through humanitarian missions, performing emergency trauma surgery during the Nicaraguan civil conflict.
